It started with bread. In 1992, the Marotta family founded the Sumerian Bread Company in Michigan — a small bakery rooted in Italian tradition and a deep love for authentic food.
Decades later, Rosario Marotta built on that legacy by launching Marotta IEWD — a company dedicated to importing the finest Sicilian foods and distributing them across the Midwest. No middlemen. No compromises. Just direct relationships with artisans who've been perfecting their craft for generations.
Today, we serve over 70 wholesale clients — from independent specialty shops to major regional supermarkets — with products you won't find anywhere else. Every item we carry is exclusive to our distribution network, FDA-registered, and backed by a 100% quality guarantee.
